The second edition of the CIRKLA Summer School will be held from 7 to 11 September 2026 in Saarbrücken, focusing on the theme “Green Metallurgy: Case Study Steel.”
The programme addresses key challenges and opportunities in the transition toward more sustainable industrial practices, with particular emphasis on decarbonisation, circularity, and innovation in the steel sector.
Master’s students, PhD candidates and early-career professionals, this is your chance to:
- Discover the core principles of circular economy
- Build a tailored skillset in sustainable resource management, metal recycling, and smart material use
- Shape an industrial and scientific landscape ready to meet the challenges of resource scarcity, carbon emissions, and efficient production processes
The programme combines keynote lectures, interactive workshops, and hands-on sessions led by leading experts in the field. Participants will also benefit from interdisciplinary exchange and networking opportunities, fostering collaboration across scientific and industrial domains relevant to Europe’s steel transition.
Participation in the summer school is free of charge. The event will be conducted in English. A limited number of participants may request free accommodation, subject to availability.
Applications are now open, with a deadline of 1 June 2026.
