The University of Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to the seminar “Trace organic contaminants in nature-based solutions: challenges and opportunities” on 29 January in Belval. Prof. Pedro N. Carvalho, Head of Section of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology of the Department of Environmental Science at Aarhus University (Denmark), will provide a synopsis of the primary outcomes from several projects concerning the mitigation of micropollutants in wastewater, greywater, stormwater, and surface water through the implementation of nature-based solutions.
About the speaker
Pedro N. Carvalho is an Associate Professor in environmental chemistry and the Head of Section of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology of the Department of Environmental Science at Aarhus University. He has worked in this field for over 17 years, measuring organic micropollutants in the environment. He has also spent more than 14 years researching the occurrence of micropollutants in (waste)water and their fate in treatment wetlands and other nature-based solutions. He coordinates the Marie Curie Staff Exchange project NEUTRAL4GS, has taken part in over 10 international research projects, and has been the co-chair of the International Water Association’s Specialist Group on Wetland Systems for Water Pollution Control.
This event is supported within the framework of the FORGOTTEN Project, funded by the Marie Speyer Excellence Grant, which aims to unveil the role of fungal communities in the direct biotransformation of emerging contaminants within nature-based solutions.
