The University of Luxembourg is pleased to present the exhibition “Émile Borel: A Mathematician in the Plural“, which will be displayed on Belval Campus from February to May 2026. This exhibition invites visitors to discover the rich and multifaceted legacy of Émile Borel, pioneer of modern probability theory, influential academic, and engaged public intellectual.
Through documents, photographs, and thematic displays, the exhibition highlights Borel’s scientific achievements, his role in shaping mathematical thought in the 20th century, and his remarkable contributions beyond mathematics, including education, politics, and public life.
Students, researchers, and all those curious about the history of ideas are warmly invited to explore this unique portrait of a mathematician whose work continues to resonate across disciplines.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on 10 February 2026 at the Maison du Savoir, room 3.330.
Then the exhibition will be available during one week at the Maison du Savoir, groundfloor and then at the Maison du Nombre, groundfloor.
