On 9 and 10 December 2025, the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) held its annual Graduation Week ceremonies. A total of 643 diplomas were conferred upon its graduates. The event recognised the achievements of each student throughout their academic journey. As this celebratory period comes to a close, let’s relive the best moments of each ceremony!
Bachelor Ceremony
On 9 December, 214 students received their diplomas in the following Bachelors:

The ceremony, moderated by Prof. Pascal Bouvry, Dean of the Faculty, began with an inspiring welcome speech by Prof. Philippe Hiligsmann, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs. This year marked the first graduates of our specialised programmes in nursing, with speeches from Valentine Jongen, Graduate from the Bachelor in nursing, specialised in anesthesia and reanimation, and Raquel Sofia Rodrigues Dos Santos, Graduate from the Bachelor in nursing, specialised in pediatry, who expressed their gratitude.
‟ “From the very beginning, we knew this journey would be demanding. Being the first sometimes meant moving forward without a model, with doubts, with existential crises but also with a lot of curiosity and a desire to learn, we did it together. We took part in something new, in evolving the training, and in paving a path for the generations to come.””

Prof. Bradley Ladewig, Vice-Dean of the Faculty, moderated the ceremony, which opened with a warm welcome from Prof. Philippe Hiligsmann, Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs. This year held particular significance as it marked the graduation of the first cohort of the Master in High Performance Computing, celebrated with a keynote by programme graduate Lucas Guffanti.

Graduate
Five students were recognised for their outstanding academic performance:

Specialised Medicine Ceremony
On 10 December, the faculty celebrated the graduation of 13 students from the following programmes:
- Formation Spécifique en Médecine Générale
- Master en Médecine Générale
- Diplôme d’Etudes Spécialisées en Médecine Générale
- Diplôme d’Etudes Spécialisées en Neurologie
- Diplôme d’Etudes Spécialisées en Oncologie Médicale
The ceremony, moderated by Prof. Serge Haan, Head of the Department of Life Sciences and Medicine, opened with a warm welcome from Prof. Simone Niclou, Vice-Rector for Research, and Prof. Pascal Bouvry, Dean of the Faculty. Stéphanie Obertin, Minister for Research and Higher Education, delivered the opening address, warmly congratulating all graduates. The ceremony continued with a keynote lecture from Prof. Christophe Ley on AI in medicine.
Diplomas were conferred in the company of the Directors of Studies — Prof. Michael Heneka, Prof. Jean-François Michel, and Prof. Sophie Servais —, before all graduates took the Serment d’Hippocrate alongside David Da Florencia Ricardo, General Practitioner and member of the Comité de Formation en Médecine Générale.
Special recognition went to Lisa Zangarini, awarded the Bourse d’études du Docteur Robert Kraus for best student in the General Medicine programme, and Michaël Dang, who received the Bourse de mobilité de la Fondation Wolter-Hirtt, under the aegis of the Fondation du Luxembourg, for best student in oncology.
Graduates Michaël Dang, Sven Urbano, and Gilles van Cutsem, shared personal reflections on their journey at the University and the opportunities that lie ahead.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Martine Deprez, Minister for Health and Social Security, highlighting the importance of these health programmes the significant role of our graduates in Luxembourg’s health system.
The faculty extends sincere congratulations to all its graduates and wishes them success in their future endeavours. Our graduates are encouraged to maintain connections with the University and the Faculty through the alumni network.
