Research Group LUMIRE: Luxembourg Midwifery Innovation in Research and Education

Research for better beginnings

The LUMIRE (Luxembourg Midwifery Innovation in Research and Education) Research Group advances midwifery as a key profession supporting maternal and perinatal health in Luxembourg and the greater region. Our work focuses on strengthening education, collaboration, and professional identity within a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

Advancing midwifery through interprofessional collaboration

Situated within the Department of Life Sciences and Medicine, our research aims to advance pedagogical innovation and promote interprofessional collaboration, while also deepening our understanding of the practice and professional autonomy of midwives. We examine how regulatory and organisational structures shape the profession, how curriculum design can reinforce the knowledge and skills needed for evidence-based decision-making, and how collaborative models can enhance learning and clinical work. By connecting these themes to broader questions of maternal and perinatal health, LUMIRE contributes to the ongoing professionalisation of midwifery in Luxembourg and to the advancement of high-quality maternity care.
