About

The EuroHPC JU work programme recognises education and training as pivotal to maximising the impact and exploitation of scientific and societal disciplines by preparing skilled professionals capable of addressing emerging challenges. The proposed EuroHPC Virtual Training Academy (EVITA) will advance this objective. EVITA will govern a broadly agreed upon Competence and Qualification Framework built on identified HPC professional profiles defined by competencies and skills. Skills will be structured in a skill tree which will serve as the basic building blocks for modules and courses in EVITA. To acquire high-quality training modules, the project will establish a cascade funding mechanism to attract leading training providers to submit material through open calls. A transparent review process will ensure quality and consistency. The project will develop a didactic concept that integrates pedagogical principles with forefront technical solutions. An innovative online training platform will be developed as a structured repository of training material, equipped to guide learning and teaching. Pre-defined learning pathways will direct learners through various professional profiles. A learner may follow their own path, and any acquired skill (exam passed) will be certified. Learners fulfilling training requirements of a professional profile will be certified. Trainers will be able to access a pool of exam questions, including solutions, by selecting modules or full courses through the platform. As a key contributor to the project, the University of Luxembourg leads two essential objectives: the sustainability planning and the external adoption strategy, ensuring both the long-term impact and broad uptake of EVITA’s outcomes across Europe. In addition, the University contributes to several foundational areas of the project: the definition of the body of knowledge, the development of the skill tree, the design of the pedagogical framework, and the creation of pilot training modules. EVITA aspires to create an interconnected community of learners, educators, and industry professionals who are empowered with cutting-edge HPC knowledge and skills. Accordingly, EVITA has assembled a consortium of the most impactful actors in HPC education and training within Europe, institutions which are currently coordinating or are heavily involved in the network of HPC Competence Centres, the EUMaster4HPC and the actions HPC SPECTRA and HPCTRAIN. With a strong research culture and deep expertise in digital transformation, the University of Luxembourg brings strategic vision and academic excellence to EVITA — helping to build a resilient and broadly applicable European HPC education ecosystem.
