Research Group Computer-Aided Engineering & Additive Manufacturing (Fab@Uni)

Research at CAE and AM Engineering

The group focuses on design, structural analysis, optimisation, and additive manufacturing. The scope of research covers the following aspects of mechanical engineering:

  • New product development;
  • Design methods, design exploration;
  • 3D CAD;
  • Numerical method in mechanics, finite element analysis and structural optimisation;
  • Additive manufacturing technology;
  • Fatigue testing
  • Teaching.

Examples of our projects

Fab@Uni

Claude Wolf Fab@Uni in 2012 in response to the growing interest in 3D printing techniques (additive manufacturing). In 2014, Slawomir Kedziora joined the initiative, and since then, the two have been jointly heading the lab. Since its inception, the lab has continued to grow, helping us to educate engineers and prepare them for professional life in industry and academia.

The motto of the lab/group is to create a research and teaching platform that focuses on the design of additively manufactured components, their optimisation and prototyping. Our lab also creates a platform for demonstrating additive technology to students at the University of Luxembourg. In the future, we want to expand our activities to educate engineers from the local industry in 3D printing technology.
