This is the second one of the Quantum breakfast series organised by the University of Luxembourg and the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.     The Role of Communications towards the Quantum Internet

    This talk will review the importance of communications for quantum internet applications. First, Quantum Key Distribution will be targeted as a short-term application, explaining the main concept, as well as the national and European deployment perspectives. Subsequently, the requirements of longer-term applications, such as distributed quantum computing and sensing, will be described, along with the communication research breakthroughs needed to support them.
