About
Germany and the EU aim for climate neutrality by 2050, focusing on a hydrogen economy. Hydrogen can be used in fuel cells for electricity or blended into existing burner systems. This project seeks to develop an additively manufactured burner nozzle for mixing propane, hydrogen, and air. The nozzle design will be optimized for gas mixture formation using CFD simulation and a variable nozzle model. Surface quality will also be studied to ensure optimal flow properties. A test stand will be built to validate the nozzle’s performance. Schütz Engineering will provide expertise in industrial burners. FAB@UNI (3D printing lab) and simulation software will be available for the PhD candidate. This research project will contribute to understanding hydrogen nozzle design and combustion processes, aligning with the growing importance of hydrogen technology and digital design for additive manufacturing.
