The Diplôme d’Études Spécialisées (DES) in Medical Oncology is a specialised professional qualification aimed at authorising the practice of medical oncology. It is a full-time training programme with a minimum duration of five years, leading to the academic degree of Doctor of Medicine.

Presentation

The purpose of this specialised professional qualification is to authorise the practice of medical oncology. Training combines clinical education, theoretical instruction, and biomedical research, and takes place in settings across Luxembourg under the supervision of experienced medical oncologists. Residents progressively develop competencies in the diagnosis, systemic treatment, and multidisciplinary management of cancer.

The training programme includes mandatory research activity.

The programme is delivered in a trilingual clinical environment (French, German, and English), reflecting the linguistic diversity of Luxembourg’s healthcare system and supporting effective communication in everyday clinical practice.
