Cultural history examines what connects people and how they are influenced by others.

    About

Cultural history is explored at the Institute for History in a number of research projects. Culture is understood as embracing all kinds of artistic and everyday activities and symbolic forms that give meaning to the world. We address architecture, monuments, epitaphs and cemeteries – and related rituals – notably in Ancient History but also in terms of changes in the “longue durée”.  Composing and playing music and the act of writing itself are also cultural practices we examine.
