The PhD-project has the title “Resources and Provenance – How did Logistics and Landscapes develop in Late Antiquity and the Early Medieval Era?”. The main focus of the research will be the reconstruction of the resource management during the Late Antiquity and the Early Middle Ages in the greater Luxembourg area. The investigations will prioritize the influence of wood supply on industry and society, as well as its impact on human-environment relationships, with a particular emphasis on sites related to brick and ceramic production or construction.
Apart from that, since 2012, Mario is also involved in the inter- and multidisciplinary TERRA project, which investigates the terraced landscape near Ramosch (CH) in the Lower Engadine.
