Prior to embarking on an academic career, Luc was a music teacher in different Flemish Music schools, teaching the clarinet, the saxophone, and ensemble. As a performer he mainly played in diverse chamber music ensembles, and as freelancer in different orchestras (a.o., the Flemish Opera).
After obtaining his PhD, he was affiliated as educational researcher at LUCA School of Arts, and later on as postdoctoral researcher at IPEM (Ghent University, BE).
Furthermore, Luc has been guest professor at different Higher Music Education Institutions, such as the conservatoires of Antwerp, Leuven, The Hague, Geneva and Lausanne.
He is a regular invited speaker at universities and conservatoires in Europe and Beyond (USA, South Africa, Canada).
He was a member of the advisory board of the Flemish Ministry of Education, shaping the reforms of music education in Flanders. Luc was also selected as a member and appointed chair (2017-2021) of the AEC Digitization Working Group.
In addition to publishing in leading journals, such as Frontiers, Computers and Education, Interacting with Computers, he is associate editor for the International Journal of Music in Early Childhood (IJMEC), and guest editor for Frontiers in Psychology and Education Sciences.
Luc has organised several conferences, and was member of the scientific of other conferences.
