Assoc. Prof Anna-Lena HÖGENAUER

Anna-Lena Högenauer is an Associate Professor in political science with a focus on European Union politics and European comparative politics. She is also the Director of the Master in European Governance

Her research focuses on democracy, legitimacy and transparency in European Union politics, on small states in EU politics and on the role of women in politics. She is the co-editor of the Routledge series Small State Studies and a member of the editorial boards of the journals Small States & Territories and Politics and Governance and of Political Data Yearbook

Prof. Högenauer offers a course on EU politics for the IFEN (l’Institut de formation de l’Éducation nationale). She also regularly comments on European and national politics on TV, radio and in the press.

She received the European Political Science Award for the best article in the journal, for Gattermann K., Högenauer A.L., Huff A. (2015) ‘Studying a new phase of europeanisation of national parliaments’, European Political Science, Vol. 15, 89-107. She also received the PADEMIA Award for Outstanding Research in the Field of Parliamentary Democracy in Europe for Högenauer A.L., Neuhold C., Christiansen T. (2016), Parliamentary Administrations in the European Union (London: Palgrave).

Between 2006 and 2007, she worked as Research Assistant at the College of Europe in Bruges. From 2011 and 2014, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Maastricht University before joining the University of Luxembourg in 2014.

Prof. Anna-Lena Högenauer has obtained her BA in European Studies at King’s College London, her MA in European Poltical and Administrative Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges and her PhD in Political Science at the University of Edinburgh.
