The Sci2School (Science Teaching to Support Children Learning Science) project focuses on developing and providing high-quality, research-based resources for science education for Luxembourg primary school teachers.
In response to a nationally identified need for resources and support for science teachers, Sci2School has two key objectives:
- The development and dissemination of digitally available educational resources for teachers to use in their science teaching, and
- The development of in-service training for primary school teachers that is adapted to the individual context of each school and focuses on establishing professional learning communities among teachers.
In inquiry-based learning, students are involved in scientific investigations that are guided by their own interests and relate to their daily experiences. Methodologically, the handouts are based on a model that is based on five procedural phases:
- Engage
- Explore
- Explain
- Elaborate
- Evaluate
