Dr. Rachel Reckinger from the Institute of History is co-organising an international workshop in Rome, in collaboration with colleagues from The American University of Rome, the Rome Food Policy Council, the Università degli Studi di Firenze, CURSA, and the Municipality of Rome.

The event will take place on 20 and 21 June 2025 in person and online.

During two days, distinguished experts, scholars and committed practitioners will cooperate to optimise international Food Policy Councils’ potential and to help local administrations rethink food systems from the ground up. This workshop aims to focus on the challenges that FPC face every day, calling for the wide participation of FPC representatives from all over the world to discuss in a safe environment their experiences, successes, failures and work in progress.

The workshop will focus on the following topics:

  • Working with local institutions
  • Representing the food system with the FPC
  • Managing stakeholder engagement
  • Ensure accountability and transparency
  • Food policies and projects in dialogue
  • Survive the electoral cycles and other difficult times

Projected outcomes are a joint publication, a policy toolkit and the animation of a shared community network.
