Appointed Guest Professor at Université du Luxembourg in 2025, Klaas De Rycke will deliver his inaugural lecture, offering an introduction to his work and approach to engineering to the academic community, the local architecture network, and a broader audience interested in the built environment.
Klaas De Rycke is a Belgian civil engineer and architect. He joined Bollinger+Grohmann in 2003 in Frankfurt before relocating to Paris in 2005 to assist Dominique Perrault Architects on the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. In 2007, he founded Bollinger+Grohmann Paris and today heads the Paris and Brussels offices as a partner of Bollinger+Grohmann Holding AG. He leads design teams on complex international projects, specialising in advanced structural systems, façades and geometrically complex structures using concrete, steel, timber, glass and natural stone.
Alongside his professional practice, Klaas is a Senior Lecturer at ENSA-Versailles and a researcher at the LEAV laboratory, and since 2017, an Associate Professor at the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL), and since 2025, a Guest Professor at Université du Luxembourg. His research explores parametric design, digital fabrication, machine learning in structural optimisation and low-carbon construction, including bio- and geo-sourced materials. Through teaching, publications and international workshops, he connects academic research with engineering practice.
