During her studies, Janne worked as an educator in child and youth work and as a trainer in adult and continuing education for non-profit organizations. After completing her doctorate, she took on responsibility as a product developer, trainer and consultant in international projects in Asia, Australia, the USA, South America and Europe in the areas of human resource management, organizational development, consulting and educational evaluation. After that, Janne accepted an offer of a substitute professorship for methods of social work and cultural education at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences; this was followed by a tenure-track junior professorship at the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, Germany. Before her appointment at the University of Luxembourg, she held a full professorship in educational psychology and childhood education there for many years. During that time, she took on responsible leadership roles and academic self-administration tasks, including serving as dean, vice dean, co-chair of the senate and member of the board of trustees.
