David Rehkopf is an Associate Professor at Stanford University, in the Departments of Epidemiology and Population Health, Medicine, Health Policy, Pediatrics and Sociology. He trained in social epidemiology and biostatistics at UC Berkeley and Harvard. He is the Director of the Stanford Center for Population Health.
In this role he works with faculty and trainees to make real world and administrative data available to enable them to answer their most pressing clinical and population health questions. The focus of his research is on understanding the mechanisms and processes linking socioeconomic disadvantage over the life course with social inequities in health.
Since often policy and programmatic changes can take decades to influence health, his work also includes more basic research in understanding biological signals that may act as early warning signs of systemic disease, in particular accelerated aging.
