On Thursday 23 April, the University of Luxembourg had the honour of welcoming Mr Fariz Rzayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, accompanied by a delegation including Mr Vaqif Sadıqov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Mr Alain de Muyser, non-resident Luxembourg Ambassador to Azerbaijan, was also in attendance.
The visit took place at the Maison du Savoir on the Belval Campus, where the delegation was received by Professor Robert Harmsen – Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE). The seminar brought together students from the Master in European Governance programme for an interactive roundtable discussion on current geopolitical dynamics, chaired by PhD researcher Donada Rata.
Throughout the session, exchanges focused on the role of diplomacy in a changing global landscape, the importance of international cooperation and the challenges faced by states in maintaining stability and fostering economic partnerships.
This format gave students the opportunity to ask questions and share their perspectives, allowing for critical exchanges and creating a valuable learning experience across differing perspectives.
As a closing gesture, Mr Fariz Rzayev acknowledged the active participation of students by offering symbolic gifts to two participants, recognising their engagement and willingness to contribute to the discussion.
