Portabella Grant

Every year, the Luis y Antonio Portabella Foundation awards the Portabella Grant to bachelor’s and master’s students at the University of Luxembourg. The grant supports students showing both academic merit and significant social or financial difficulties. 

What the Grant Covers?



– Accommodation expenses (university residences, City of Esch, Rümelange, Differdange, LISEL, weconnect.lu) 
– General living costs

    Step‑by‑Step Guide

    University Action: Vice Rectorate circulates call; faculties forward it via Moodle; professors encourage applications. 

    Student Action: Submit to FHSE.Scholarships-MAEE@uni.lu 

    Required documents: 

    Required documents: 

    • Proof of accommodation 
    • Transcript of grades 
    • Recommendation letter 
    • Statement of financial/social situation 
    • CV with student ID 
    • Remaining semesters 

    Faculty Action: Committee selects 8 candidates per faculty (24 total), ranked 1–8.

    University Action: SEVE, Amis de l’Université, and Vice Rector review files.

    Evaluation Step: Inclusion Office selects 20 candidates; others on reserve list.

    Evaluation Step: February 11th, 2026 (14:00–16:30), 5–10 min each. 

    Panel: AUL Board, Portabella Foundation rep, Academic Vice Rector. 

    University Action: 20 recipients confirmed; 4 non‑selected notified.

    Final Event: April 22nd, 2026 at 18:00, Chamber of Commerce, Kirchberg.
