Mobility, territoriality and cultural exchange

We study cultural exchange and social transformation in ancient, medieval and modern border regions and show that today’s ‘laboratories of Europe’ have historical precursors.
About
Contemporary bordering and debordering processes (in Europe) have stimulated growing interest in border regions in political and social sciences. Our research on historical border regions, especially on medieval Lotharingia, makes an important contribution to this research field in that it allows for a broader view of the relationship between borders, power, territoriality, and culture.
