‟ Time detracts not from the legacy these good men leave, but the light of their goodness still burns on.”
On 4 October 2024, a Festschrift was presented to Damien Sagrillo (center of the photograph), Associate Professor for Musicology (University of Luxembourg), in honor of his 65th anniversary at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG).
“This volume, which contains a Laudation by Friedhelm Brusniak, congratulatory addresses, a selected bibliography of wind music research compiled and kindly provided by Damien Sagrillo himself, as well as the papers from the congress held in Bolzano (South Tyrol) in 2022, is above all a homage to an eminent musicologist, professor and musician on the occasion of his birthday. It is also an excellent way to acknowledge and thank the work and commitment of Damien Sagrillo as President of the International Society for Research and Promotion of Wind Music (IGEB).
This volume would not have been possible without the collaboration of many colleagues. We would like to thank Friedhelm Brusniak for taking the initiative to honour Damien Sagrillo with his contribution. Thanks to ail the authors for agreeing to honour him in this persona! way. The work and discretion of the IGEB’s office manager Ulrike Maser deserve special mention. We would like to express our gratitude to LIT-Verlag and Mr. Martin W. Richter for their efficient and constructive cooperation. The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz is to be thanked for their generous financial and logistical support.” On behalf of IGEB, David Gasche
