About
EU Kids Online, a multinational research network with 34 countries, aims to deepen our knowledge of the online opportunities, risks and safety of children and adolescents. After several successful investigations since 2014, the current group, led by Prof. Elisabeth Staksrud of the University of Oslo, will collect quantitative and qualitative data on children’s and adolescents’ internet use in 2024 and 2025. Like in the previous years, the aim is to gain solid empirical evidence to inform national and international multi-stakeholder processes. With the support of the national Ministry of Education, Children and Youth (MENJE), the Luxembourgish team will participate in the collection of quantitative and qualitative data with children and adolescents. Apart from a planned survey, we will carry out interviews with children on opportunities and digital citizenship and with adolescents on the use of AI-based technologies (e.g., Generative AI tools) in their everyday lives. Both interviews aim to bring in and understand children’s and adolescents’ experiences and perspectives.
