Dual degree with the University of Geneva
Spend one year in Switzerland and one year in Luxembourg while studying Law in both countries.
Every year, up to five students of the Master in European Law at the University of Luxembourg will have the opportunity to complete their first year of studies at the University of Geneva and obtain degrees with both universities after completing their second year at the University of Luxembourg.
Programme Structure
The first year is carried out at the University of Geneva. The second year is carried out the University of Luxembourg. Students will be registered both at the University of Luxembourg and the University of Geneva for the duration of their degree. Students will pay University of Geneva enrolment fees in their first year and University of Luxembourg enrolment fees in their second year.
If the student complies with both universities’ rules and conditions as regards credits envisaged, attendance, deadlines, academic integrity etc., they will receive two degrees, which will be released according to each university’s procedures. The student will also receive a transcript from each university as well as a descriptive appendix to the diploma (annexe descriptive au diplôme)
The language of instruction is French and/or English.
Students enrolled in the third year of the Bachelor in Law EU/EEE/Switzerland can apply for this programme, as well as any other candidate that meets the requirements.
The deadline for applications will be 28 February. The results of the selection process will be communicated at the end of May. Students need not have completed their Bachelor at the time of the application.
A total of 5 places per year are available for students from the University of Luxembourg. Students must apply directly on the University of Geneva website.
Candidates for this programme should meet the following requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the EU/EEE or Switzerland, or an equivalent degree, with a high distinction (mention bien) or equivalent.
- Demonstrate an English and French level of B2 as per CEFR and any other documents attesting to additional language skills.
- Provide a good motivation letter and a CV
- Provide a complete university transcript
- Provide a proposal for an individualised learning plan for the entire duration of the dual degree programme.
The selection committee will select the five successful applicants to the dual degree based on:
- Academic results
- Coherence of the individualized learning plan
- Personal motivation and interest in the dual degree programme
- Language skills
