Programme

The certificate is an 8-day programme spread across two weeks (Monday to Thursday within each program week). Each day has a morning session, between 9:00 and 12:30, and an afternoon session (between 13:30 and 17:00).

  • Objectives

    The objective of the programme is to deepen the student’s specific knowledge, skills and critical thinking, in the field of Sustainable Finance. The main goals are:

    –          

    To provide knowledge on abstract concepts of sustainable finance, applicable to global trends and challenges in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investments.

    –          

    To provide an understanding of ESG investments in Luxembourg, keeping in mind that Luxembourg has one of the largest Sustainable Finance markets in the world, and that Luxembourg is a Sustainable Finance pioneer both in Europe and worldwide. Training in the experiences of the pioneering Sustainable Finance market and environment in Luxembourg can guarantee novel approaches that can be applicable to virtually any international market.

    –          

    To offer a balance between academic and practitioner-oriented training in the rapidly evolving field of Sustainable Finance. Therefore, the instructors are among the leaders defining the field of Sustainable Finance. Interactive courses are taught by Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance academics and external experts from other Universities as well as senior representatives from the financial industry who promote discussions, argumentation, connection to real-world events and creativity as part of their teaching methods.

    At the end of the programme, the student will be able to:

    Understand key concepts in Sustainable Finance (for risk management, asset management, regulatory requirements,…)

    Be able to critically discuss the pressure facing the current financial system

    Explore how Sustainable Finance Strategies can create long term value for business, society and the environment.

    Analyse how the financial sector can help financing the fight against climate change
