In detail
Ioana Visescu is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Luxembourg Institute for Digital Ethics (ULIDE). She holds a PhD in Computer Science from Reykjavik University, where her research focused on structured user-centred design processes.
International experience has been a defining feature of her academic career, having conducted research and teaching in Canada, Brazil, Denmark, Iceland, Italy, and now Luxembourg. Her interdisciplinary work lies at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Information Systems, addressing topics such as design methodologies, manipulation through design, user-centredness, and the ethical challenges of emerging technologies. In addition to research, she has taught in HCI, user-centred design, requirements engineering, and project management, delivering lectures and courses to both undergraduate and graduate students. Beyond higher education, Ioana has designed and led high school workshops introducing students to design thinking, as well as lectures on manipulation through design and the empowerment of young people through technology.
Her current research at ULIDE examines Human-AI interaction, including the anthropomorphisation of AI agents, prompt engineering, deepfakes, and broader questions of digital ethics. At the core of her work lies a commitment to exploring how socio-technical and interaction design approaches can be leveraged for social good, while critically examining the hidden costs of technological innovation. She is actively involved in educational and policy-oriented initiatives focused on developing ethical frameworks and legislation for safe and responsible AI.
