In the fiercely competitive arena of the Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings, the University of Luxembourg proudly maintains its position among the 201-250 best universities in the World University Rankings 2024. This year, the rankings have expanded to include105 additional universities, for a total of 1904 institutions.
In terms of Research quality, the University made a significant leap this year, securing the 363rd position globally. In both Teaching and Research environment, the University ranks among the top 25% of universities.
With its overall position, the University maintains its score from last year. The University has consistently occupied the 201-250 position in the World University Rankings for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Indicators for the World University Rankings 2024
The score for Research quality is assessed through four key indicators: research strength, research excellence, research influence and citation impact. Here the University significantly improved its position compared to last year, moving up from position 577 to 363 worldwide.
In the domain of Teaching, the University also improved its score and now ranks among the top 25% of universities.
In the evaluation of the Research environment, the University maintains its place among the top 25% of universities. Three indicators are used to determine this score: publications per staff, research income to academic staff and research reputation.
The Industry ranking now includes a new indicator for patents, which takes into account patent citations as a measure of a university’s research impact in addition to research income. The University increased its score in Industry income and generally ranks at position 587.
Lastly, the University scores 93.2 for International Outlook.
