One moment you graduate as a master student, the next you embark on the exciting path of academic research. To facilitate the start for its new doctoral candidates, the University hosted the first PhD Induction Days at Belval campus.
For new doctoral candidates, there is much to be learnt about their new working environment and the rules and commitment that comes with academic research. The five-day event welcomed about 90 new doctoral candidates from all doctoral schools, providing them with an intensive and comprehensive programme focused on essential soft skills for a successful doctoral journey. Key topics covered included:
- The doctoral life cycle,
- Time management and productivity,
- Ethics in research,
- Starting research, data and PhD project management,
- Intellectual property,
- Teaching and presentation skills, and more!
Beyond the training sessions, new doctoral candidates had opportunities to meet their peers, exchange ideas, and establish connections that will be valuable throughout their doctoral experience.
