In the context of the European Erasmus+ program “Values-Identity-Culture“, Europe Direct University of Luxembourg (ED-UNILU) welcomed a group of 49 students and 4 teachers from the Lycée Hubert-Clément in Esch-sur-Alzette and their partner high school from the region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy on Wednesday 20 November.

The school visit began in front of the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC), where, Maria Eleni Nikoloudia and Luca Colling, representing ED-UNILU, welcomed the students and their professors, who were informed about ED-UNILU’s activities and projects within the University and as part of the local and wider regional network of Europe Direct Centres.

The group then discovered the industrial heritage of the Cité des Sciences, in particular the blast furnaces, with the help of a specialist guide from the Fonds Belval.

The European program “Values-Identity-Culture” is meant to encourage students to reflect critically on Europe’s past, present and future, as well as to weigh up the benefits and challenges of the European Union.
Moreover, the project will enhance the pupils’ motivation to participate in the democratic processes that will shape the future of the European Union and their attachment to its fundamental values.
