On Wednesday 2 July, the Representation of the European Commission in Luxembourg organised a press conference in the context of the launch of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Following an introduction by Mrs Anne Calteux, Representative of the European Commission in Luxembourg, a brief review of the main achievements under the Polish Presidency was presented by Mr Rafal Hykawy, chargé d’affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Poland. H.E. Ms Susanne Shine, Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the Holy See, provided information on the ambitious programme aiming to drive the EU agenda forward and answered questions posed by members of the audience.
The two main priorities for the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU are a secure Europe and a competitive and green Europe. The Danish Presidency will continue working towards the simplification of legal and administrative procedures to promote the conditions for competitiveness in the European Union, while enhancing the energy transition driven by the European Green Deal.
The slogan of the Danish presidency will be “A Strong Europe in a Changing World”.
