« Itinéraires luxembourgeois et européens. Évolutions et souvenirs: 1945-1985 » – the memoirs of Pierre Werner – was reissued by Europe Direct at the University of Luxembourg (2021-2025) in collaboration with the Werner family archives and the international publisher P.I.E. Peter Lang.
Itinéraires luxembourgeois et européens – Peter Lang Verlag
The volume was presented on 8 October 2025 at an academic event organized by the University of Luxembourg in collaboration with its many partners, featuring contributions from Prime Minister Luc Frieden, Minister of Finance Gilles Roth, ECB President Christine Lagarde, and members of Pierre Werner’s family. The date, 8 October, carries deep symbolic significance, as it marked the 55th anniversary of the Werner Report — a groundbreaking document that outlined the framework of Economic and Monetary Union and laid the foundations for the euro.
Through this new edition of Pierre Werner’s memoirs, first published in 1992, younger generations will have the opportunity to discover the remarkable life of an eminent statesman whose intellectual legacy and lifelong commitments to his country and to Europe remain a lasting source of inspiration.
