Abstract
In this talk, Prof. Sagrillo will delve into the rich tapestry of Luxembourg’s musical heritage, navigating through its historical evolution, anthropological and cultural significance, and educational development.
Prof. Sagrillo will explore Luxembourg’s rich musical landscape by illustrating musical traditions prior to Luxembourg’s establishment as a state, revealing secular evidence and delving into the pivotal role of Echternach. He will then examine the Nazi occupation period, uncovering the difficulties encountered by the musical community and highlighting the resilience of Luxembourgish musicians.
The ongoing debates and discussions integral to understanding Luxembourg’s musical heritage suggest that the country’s music history is inseparable from the discourse on music education.
