Join us for a special seminar presenting selected highlights from the new Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) Nexus Assessment — the most ambitious scientific effort to date to unravel the complex interlinkages between biodiversity, water, food, health, and climate change. This comprehensive report offers over seventy response options aimed at achieving co-benefits across these critical systems, providing guidance for decision-makers worldwide.
The seminar is hosted by the newly founded Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems (LCSES) and will showcase key findings from the Assessment and share behind-the-scenes insights into the collaborative work of 165 leading experts from 57 countries, who synthesised knowledge from over 6,500 sources.
Endorsed by governments at the eleventh plenary session of IPBES and after three years of intensive assessment, the report not only represents a milestone in global environmental science but also prompts important questions: how can these findings shape policies, influence societies, and inspire transformative change?
We invite you to explore these questions with us — and to engage in an open discussion on the future pathways for integrating science into decision-making at the nexus of our planet’s most vital systems. We are happy to welcome:
- Prof. Pamela McElwee, Department Human Ecology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; IPBES, Assessment Co-Chair
- Dr. Sunita Chaudhary, Head of Biodiversity Group at International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Kathmandu, Nepal; IPBES Lead Author
- Prof. David Hayman, School of Veterinary Science, Massey University, New Zeeland; IPBES Coordinating Lead Author
sharing their view on important results, the process of assessments, where we are, and the impact the report had so far.
Moderation:
- Prof. Ralf Seppelt, Director Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental System
