The official inauguration of the EDC-UNILU will take place on 28 January 2026.

Missions

The European Documentation Centre at the University of Luxembourg (EDC-UNILU) serves a wide-ranging audience by fostering knowledge and informed debate on the European Union’s historical evolution, current developments, and future challenges among students, researchers, educators, and the general public. Through an extensive programme of lectures, seminars, discussions, and exhibitions, it provides detailed information on the process of European integration, the EU’s institutional architecture, and the policies and mechanisms that underpin a unified Europe.

Benefiting from its privileged position at the centre of the Greater Region and within one of the European Union’s permanent capitals, the European Documentation Centre at the University of Luxembourg (EDC-UNILU) leverages its unique geographical and institutional environment. Beyond its role as a centre for information, knowledge sharing, and critical reflection, EDC-UNILU cultivates digital and research skills, guiding users in navigating archival sources, databases, and institutional documents repositories. Its resources, both physical and digital, serve as a local reference library on European Union affairs, providing a robust foundation for scholarly research and informed public engagement alike.

Open to both academics and the public at large, EDC-UNILU embodies the dual purpose of the European Documentation Centre network: facilitating the study of European integration and providing access to comprehensive information on the EU, including its history, institutions, operations, and contemporary developments. In this capacity, the Centre maintains close links with European institutions, contributing to civic understanding—particularly among younger audiences—while supporting research, teaching, and informed discussion on European affairs in Luxembourg.
