*Special case for Switzerland: Student exchanges with Switzerland are possible under the Swiss-European Mobility Programme. Under this programme, mobility periods in a Swiss partner institution are generally funded by the Swiss institution. If the Swiss institution does not provide funding, the mobility period will be funded by the Erasmus+ programme (subject to the signing of an Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreement).
Contribution to travel costs
The distance travelled represents the distance between the home institution (the registered office of the University of Luxembourg) and the place of activity abroad (the registered office of the host institution or its main campus if different).

Support for inclusion

“Fewer opportunities top-up”: €250/month
Conditions for the “fewer opportunities” top-up
This top-up may be awarded to students:
- with a physical or mental disability that means they will incur additional costs during their stay abroad,
- with health problems (a chronic or severe illness) that mean they will incur additional costs during their stay abroad,
- with a child/children who they will be taking with them for their mobility period,
- with refugee status.
To be awarded the top-up, students must complete the procedure outlined by email.
Depending on the specific case, the following documents will be required:
- Form completed and signed by a doctor who confirms that the student has a disability or a severe or chronic illness. This form will be provided by the University of Luxembourg.
- Upon return from the mobility period, a household composition certificate and proof that the child(ren) spent the mobility period abroad.
- Residence permit indicating refugee status
The University of Luxembourg reserves the right to request additional documents if deemed necessary to assess the eligibility of the top-up request.
Payment
Payment of the grant is subject to the conditions laid down in the Grant Agreement that the student signs before setting off.
The Erasmus+ grant is paid in two instalments:
- 70% of the maximum amount at the start of the mobility period.
- The remaining amount, if applicable, at the end of the mobility period: the exact grant amount is recalculated on the basis of the actual start and end dates of the mobility period as indicated on the certificate of departure.
- Students should check that their bank details are up to date in the “Guichet Etudiant” before the grant payment is made.
