Les Amis de l’Université du Luxembourg cordially invite you to a conference featuring Professor Christophe Ley on 27 March at 7.30 pm at the Chamber of Commerce. The conference, titled ” Sports Analytics – when Figures are more than Numbers,” promises to be an engaging exploration of the burgeoning field of sports analytics.
During his presentation, Professor Christophe Ley will offer a comprehensive overview of sports analytics, tracing its origins and illustrating its significance through compelling examples from the realm of professional sports.
Drawing from the research conducted by his team, MIDAS, at the University of Luxembourg – some of which is conducted in collaboration with professional sports organizations – Professor Ley will delve into the application of statistics and machine learning techniques. Discover how these methodologies enable the prediction of sporting event outcomes and provide coaches with invaluable insights into the key factors influencing these predictions, thereby optimizing tactical strategies.
Additionally, Professor Ley will offer insights into the potential translation of these findings into the realm of sports medicine, particularly in terms of estimating injury risks.
The conference will commence at 7.30 pm on Wednesday evening and will be followed by a networking cocktail at 8.30 pm, offered by the Chambre de Commerce Luxembourg.
