Required documents
We would recommend that you prepare all the required documents before starting your application. The documents you need will depend on your chosen study programme and your background. Below you will find a list of documents we typically require. This list is not binding and additional documents may be required for your chosen programme. When applying, the system will indicate which documents you need to upload to be able to submit an application for your preferred study programme.
All documents need to be uploaded in PDF, JPG or PNG format. Max. size per document: 5 MB.
For non-EU students: In case of admission acceptance, you will need to request your criminal record to undergo your immigration procedure. We recommend you to request the criminal record of your country of residence in advance, to accelerate the procedure with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We suggest you request this document no later than the beginning of April, even if you have not received the result of your application.
Generally required documents
for Bachelor applications
- An identity photo
- A copy of your identity card or passport
- A copy of your European health insurance card (both sides); non-EU students can obtain this card by paying a fee when they arrive in Luxembourg
- A copy of your secondary school leaving certificate (please check the eligibility criteria to find out more about criteria for your specific situation)
- A copy of the document recognising equivalence for secondary school leaving certificates that are not from Luxembourg (see the page on Diploma recognition)
- A translation of the diploma if it is in a language other than English, French or German
- A copy of the detailed transcript of your secondary school leaving certificate
- A copy of results obtained in previous semesters
- A language certificate for all teaching languages of the programme (Learn more about what certificates we accept)
for Master applications
- An identity photo
- A copy of your identity card or passport
- A copy of your European health insurance card (both sides); non-EU students can obtain this card by paying a fee when they arrive in Luxembourg
- A copy of your university degree certificate (please check the eligibility criteria to learn more about criteria for your specific situation)
- A the translation of the diploma if it is in a language other than English, French or German
- A detailed transcript of all the grades obtained for your Bachelor’s degree
- If you obtained your degree from a country that is not a Member State of the European Union, a copy of the recognition or accreditation of your most advanced qualification (this document is requested after your have been accepted at the University)
- A language certificate for all teaching languages used on the programme (Learn more about what certificates we accept)
in some cases we also require:
- A letter of motivation (explaining why you are interested in the field or course you are applying for, setting out your career goals, etc).
- A detailed curriculum vitae
- Full contact details of two referees
- A letter of recommendation
