On 9 May 2025, to mark the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the Robert Schuman House in Luxembourg City’s Clausen district held a series of events to celebrate Europe Day. The childhood home of Robert Schuman, a founding figure in the European story, is a place of memory steeped in history, which the C²DH has been tasked with preserving and promoting in the public interest. To mark this symbolic anniversary, the house hosted a number of events showcasing Europe’s heritage.
Invited by Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, celebrated Europe Day at the Robert Schuman House, paying tribute to the pioneer of European unification. After visiting the historic house and writing their own message in the visitor book, the EU representatives were given a commemorative stamp issued by POST Luxembourg. They then gave an address in the garden to emphasise the ongoing relevance of the European project.
Following this official visit, the Robert Schuman House opened its doors to the public. Visitors were able to explore an exhibition of cartoons illustrating reactions to the Schuman Plan, watch the documentary Robert Schuman – From Clausen to Europe, follow a discovery trail with audio guide in the garden, and browse the exhibition A Tribute to Robert Schuman in Stamps, presented in collaboration with POST Luxembourg.
