Exhibition about Luxembourgers in Romania on tour

The exhibition “Arbres fruitiers, tunnels ferroviaires et tubes sans soudures. Présence luxembourgeoise en Roumanie (1885-1950)” [Fruit trees, railway tunnels, and seamless tubes. The presence of Luxembourgers in Romania (1885-1950)], produced by the Documentation Centre for Human Migration (CDMH) in Dudelange in partnership with the C²DH will open in Everlange before moving on to Romania.

First on display in Dudelange from September 2024 to February 2025, the exhibition is based on the work of historian Philippe Blasen who uncovered the stories of around 20 people from Luxembourg who moved to Romania for work between 1885 and 1950, and pieced together their biographies.

It will again be open to the public in the following locations:

28-30 April in the Château d’Everlange (Luxembourg), organised with the support of the C²DH and the Amis du Prieuré d’Useldange asbl

15 May – 13 June at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), organised with the support of the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the C²DH

3 June – 19 July at the Centrul Cultural German in Iași (Romania), organised with the support of the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the C²DH

From 12 June onwards at Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania), organised with the support of the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Honorary Consulate of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the C²DH

16 June – 18 July at the Mountainous Banat Museum in Reșița (Romania), organised with the support of the Embassy of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the C²DH
