The first DeepTech Ventures event is approaching, with two days of conferences and demos on 19 and 20 September. As a research centre specialised in innovative technologies and a key partner for some sixty companies, the University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) is involved in this event. The aim will be to highlight entrepreneurial success stories that have emerged from research and development, and have been successfully converted into a high-tech product or service.
“DeepTech builds bridges between research and industry, which is the core-DNA of SnT. So it’s only natural for us to take part in the first edition of this event, which we hope will strengthen the Deeptech eco-system in Luxembourg,” commented Dr. Carlo Duprel, Head of SnT Technology Transfer Office.
Duprel will be one of the speakers on the first day of the conference and will take part in a round table, entitled ‘Deeptech venture building models’.
On 20 September, two SnT projects will be taking part in a day of demos: NIRWatchdog will be presenting its AI-based tool for detecting counterfeit or poor-quality goods, while Trace Crystal will be showing how fingerprints can be used to create unclassifiable labels that are stored and authenticated using its secure encrypted protocols.
Powered by Technoport, DeepTech Ventures are expecting 300 participants. The event will gather around thirty speakers for a day of discussions on deeptech, followed by demonstrations organised by some twenty start-ups from Luxembourg’s research ecosystem.
Spin-offs from the University of Luxembourg will be represented, including Nium and OrganoTherapeutics, alongside Cortex Security, which was created within the Uni.lu Incubator.
