Martin BRENNECKE

Martin Brennecke is a doctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). He is a member of the Digital Financial Services and Cross-Organisational Digital Transformations research group (FINATRAX) headed by Prof Dr. Gilbert Fridgen and a doctoral student in the Doctoral Programme in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Luxembourg.

Martin’s research interests include decentralisation technologies such as distributed ledgers, digital identities, and multiparty computations, where he focuses on their application and implications in the public and private sectors. Along those lines, he investigates the impact of decentralisation technologies on digital financial services at the intersection of management and computer science.

His research has been published in Information Systems Frontiers, as well as the Proceedings of the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), the Hawaii International Conference on Systems Sciences (HICSS), and the International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI). It was further accepted for presentation at the doctoral consortia of the International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI) and the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS).

Martin served as a reviewer of scientific articles submitted to journals including Financial Innovation, Applied Energy, and Electronic Commerce Research, as well as for numerous conferences in information systems, including the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), the European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS), the International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI), and the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS). He further served as an associate editor with the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AoM).

Martin previously worked as a student research assistant focusing on distributed ledger technologies and strategic information management for the German research institute Fraunhofer, as well as for research groups in business administration, economics, and philosophy. Furthermore, he undertook internships with an e-commerce company and an OEM in the automotive industry.

Prior to joining SnT, Martin received both his master’s degree in international economics and governance as well as his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and economics from the University of Bayreuth, Germany. Throughout his studies, he built and maintained an interdisciplinary profile, bringing methods and theories from economics, public policy, and philosophy into business and management information systems research.
