The increasing reliance on data-driven processes across industries has amplified concerns about privacy and regulatory compliance, particularly when handling personal and sensitive information. While data sharing and analysis are essential for innovation and operational efficiency, they often conflict with stringent data protection requirements such as those outlined in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This project investigates and evaluates data anonymisation techniques that balance privacy protection with data utility across diverse data types and operational contexts. Building on prior work focused on smart meter data, the scope is expanded to include multiple categories of personal data relevant to real-world use cases, including those provided by Encevo Group. By systematically addressing the unique challenges posed by different data types, the project aims to develop robust anonymisation strategies that ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable regulations. Conducted in collaboration with the Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS), the research will deliver a process model framework for operational anonymisation practices and a technical solution tailored to critical use cases. The expected outcome is consistent, end-to-end guidance on data anonymisation across the value chain, strengthening data governance and laying the foundation for future advancements in privacy-preserving data management.
