National Centre of Excellence in Research and Innovation FutureFinTech

Who we are

Established in 2023 as the NCER FinTech (NCER-FT), now rebranded as FutureFinTech, this initiative addresses the ongoing digitalisation of Luxembourg’s most important sector: financial services. This sector, accounting for €16.4 billion of the nation’s GDP, is being revolutionised by new technologies. As consumer expectations and regulatory demands evolve, financial institutions require more structured scientific support to keep pace with these changes.

Our Approach

Our eight-year programme aims to push the boundaries of knowledge by leveraging our world-class talents, cutting-edge research, and combined expertise from the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) at the University of Luxembourg.

This effort is complemented by the Finnovation Hub, an initiative designed to help Luxembourg solidify its position as one of the world’s leading financial centres. The Finnovation Hub focuses on promoting innovation in finance across critical areas such as cybersecurity, FinTech, RegTech, sustainable finance, and SupTech. Supported by Luxembourg’s Ministry of Finance, the Finnovation Hub also highlights key areas for improvement within the Grand Duchy’s financial sector.

By integrating these efforts under the FutureFinTech brand, we strive to deliver transformative solutions that address the challenges and opportunities shaping the financial sector of tomorrow.
