The University of Luxembourg contributes to the national objective of developing a robust health system based on excellence in research and training in the (bio)medical, clinical and public health fields.

The University has formulated a 10-year strategy aimed at supporting the evolution of the Luxembourg healthcare system and preparing for the potential creation of a Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The implementation of this strategy will be the subject of a specific agreement, and will require a number of measures for successful delivery, notably:

  • Accelerating the recruitment of professors and teachers in medicine and healthcare.
  • strengthening alliances with hospitals and health sector stakeholders
  • implementing the Luxembourg Research Clinic (Fuerschungsklinik Lëtzebuerg)
  • extending the Bachelor’s degree in medicine to a Master’s degree in medicine and developing a range of medical specialisations.

Over the period 2026-29, the University will also intensify the use of data science, AI and digital technologies in health and biomedical research, and strengthen synergies between the fields of medicine & health and public health, psychology, and behavioural and cognitive sciences.
