On 19 December 2023, we had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Klaus Desmet from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
In the framework of the lecture series on Cross-Border Labor Mobility, Prof. Desmet gave a detailed lecture on “Identity, Culture, and Politics”. He argued that the underlying potential for the polarization of U.S. society has existed for at least four decades. The growing partisan polarization reflects politics becoming more aligned with this underlying division of the U.S. public.
This lecture series is organized by the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and the University of Luxembourg, in the framework of the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR), Luxembourg-funded project ACROSS.
The next lecture will be held on 18 January 2024 and will feature Prof. Anna Maria Mayda from Georgetown University on the topic “Fiscal Impact of Immigration: Empirical Evidence at the Local Level”.
Registration is free but mandatory by emailing to noemie.courtois@uni.lu
