Join us in celebrating International Open Access Week 2025
This year, we invite you to explore our local theme: “Whose shelf is it on?”, a prompt to reflect on who truly owns the knowledge we use and create.
Take a moment to think critically:
- Who has the right to access and reuse knowledge?
- What role do copyright, intellectual property, open access publishing, and data sharing play?
Stop by the Luxembourg Learning Centre to check out our posters showcasing scientific discoveries that were made openly available for the benefit of all, many of which you rely on daily, and some even originated at our University!
Visit our focus area for thought-provoking reads that will help you dive deeper into the question of ownership in knowledge. And don’t hesitate to chat with our librarians: they’re here to support you with both practical and philosophical questions around information literacy.
Programme
- Monday – Thursday a poster exhibition of scientific endeavours that were ‘set free’, e.g. they were open to society without barriers and changed our society forever.
- A focus on the theme with relevant resources
- Friday 24th Jules Wax, a doctoral student of AI from SnT, will be showing a short 3 mins AI film.
- There will be a ‘subject guide’ styled flyer for open access publishing and research data management, and a bookmark available for those who want to pick one up
- We will have some snacks available to library visitors
- In the week after, the open science working group will as usual train doctoral students during 3 days on open science.
