The Printemps des Poètes (“Spring of Poets”) is a cultural initiative dedicated to promoting and revitalizing poetry.
Originally launched in France in 1999 under Jack Lang and later led by poet Jean-Pierre Siméon (followed by Sophie Nauleau), it has become a major event celebrating poetry both in France and internationally.
The Luxembourg branch, Printemps des Poètes – Luxembourg, is an independent association inspired by the French event. Its goal is to bring contemporary poetry to the public through diverse, lively, and multilingual events. It works with local cultural institutions, the University and Espace Cultures to showcase poetry in many forms, for all ages, highlighting linguistic and artistic diversity.
This years rendition of the Multilingual Young Poets Contest saw applicants from all walks of life including some of our own students here at the University of Luxembourg.
The competition was fierce in the University category and while everyone submitted lovely pieces of poetry, the judges decided upon these 5 talented individuals:
-
1st Place
Samantha Hellenbrand – Untying My Fear of Freedom
-
2nd Place (Shared)
Alexandre Mortelette – L’éternelle indignée
Aswin Lutchanah – Les libertés
-
4th Place (Shared)
