“Physics in the living room with Phyphox”
During this online workshop, David Kieffer, member of the Scienteens Lab team, will showcase how to use diverse sensors in a smartphone and the Phyphox app for online education in physics.
The workshop will start with a presentation of the sensors in smartphones and a review of the possibilities and limitations of the phyphox app. Then concrete applications and examples of experiments that can be carried out at home with household items and a smartphone will be demonstrated. Participants will have the opportunity to test measurements during the workshop and discuss upsides and downsides during a Q&Asession. This interactive workshop will highlight the potential of the smartphone as a tool for online education.
To take part in this online workshop, participants need a connection to Microsoft Teams and a microphone (camera optional). A smartphone with pre-installed phyphox application is recommended (the app is freely available for iOS and Android). Basic knowledge of physics is required.
Registered participants will receive an invitation shortly before the workshop and should connect to Microsoft Teams 15-20 minutes before the webinar begins.
For a sneak peek at the workshop’s content or to take a deep dive in Phyphox by yourself, a YouTube video is available online. It gives an overview of the different experiments that can be done with the application.
