In detail
Masanori Itakura holds a DVM and a PhD in Veterinary Science obtained in 2017 from Osaka Prefecture University, Japan. His scientific interests are based on the question of “how cells recognise and respond to modified or denatured proteins,” and his research primarily focused on protein aggregation and cell signalling by post-translational modifications. He joined the LCSB’s Neuroinflammation group in September 2023 in order to expand his research scope into the relationship between post-translational mechanisms and pathology, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases, and is currently working on the project “Investigating the role of post-translational modifications of pathogenic molecules on microglial function”.
